May 18, Saturday: Would you like to see some beautiful Irises? The Sangamon Valley Iris Society is sponsoring a Spring Iris Show at the Washington Park Botanical Gardens in Springfield, on Saturday, May 18! A variety of kinds of Irises will be judged and then displayed for a public viewing from 1-4PM. For more information, call Dave or Deb Miller at (217) 529-8014. Come learn about and enjoy viewing one of The Good Lord’s beautiful flowers!

May 19, Sunday: Grieving the loss of a spouse or know someone who is? Your life has changed forever, and the daily emotions and challenges can seem too hard to bear. Help can be found at Trinity Lutheran Church’s upcoming GriefShare’s Loss of a Spouse Seminar! This is a stand-alone GriefShare forum to be held on Sunday, May 19th from 1-3PM, in the Parish Hall, located at 515 South MacArthur Blvd, in Springfield. The seminar is of no charge to attend and will consist of three different parts: video, workbook, and sharing! May 25, Saturday: Bringing warmth to every heart – the Outreach Ministry of the Greater Apostolic Church of Christ presents – Ambassadeurs’ Pottage – a meal for all, free of charge! Ambassadeaurs’ Pottage is a community event to take place at the church each fourth Saturday, from 11AM-2PM. The churches location is 1300 East Ash Street in Springfield, and the pottage will consist of soup, bread (or crackers), butter, and a drink. May 26, Sunday:  The Lesters will be in concert on May 26, starting at 3:00 pm.  The concert will be held at New Life Christian Camp, located at 11257 Macomb Rd, Rushville.  This is a non-ticket event and there will be free BBQ.   A love offering will be received.  For more information call 309-827-2406.

June 9, Sunday: The well known gospel group, Avenue with Kasey Kemp, will be performing at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, on June 9 at 6PM! The church is located at 4135 Mt. Auburn Road, in Decatur, Illinois. This concert is of no charge and open to the public, however, an RSVP is required and can be accomplished by contacting Jason White at (217) 433-0802!

June 10-14, Monday-Friday:  Springfield Bible Church, located at 2060 Westchester Blvd, Springfield, is hosting VBS June 10-14 from 6:00PM-8:30PM each night. Children ages Pre-K through 6th grade are welcome to come join us for a week of fun activities, all while learning about the love of God! During VBS the children will also be taught about animals from all around the planet, their amazing skills, habits, and features, while also learning about Jesus’ character and how to follow him in their own habitats. June 15, Saturday:  The 2nd Annual BYO Church H.O.T. (Honest, Open, Transparent) & F.A.T. (Faithful, Available, Teachable) Men’s Conference kicks off from 9AM to 3PM on Saturday, June 15! The conference is to be held at BYO Church, 2901 East Sangamon Avenue, in Springfield, and the cost is inclusive of lunch at only $30 per man or $45 with a conference t-shirt. This event will be complete with powerful worship sessions, a variety of wonderful speakers, and prayer that transforms hearts and lives, come join the movement! The WLUJ Family of Stations and Great News Radio can air your Public Service Announcement -PSA- for your church or other non-profit organization at no charge. This includes special events and activities such as programs, seminars, banquets, concerts, revivals, etc.

We will list and broadcast announcements as time, space, and resources permit. PSAs are included on our website under Community Calendar and broadcast during our PSA on-air rotation as space and time permit. Ideally, information about your activity should reach our office at least two weeks prior to the event.

If your function, meeting, or activity includes ticket purchase for admission and may be perceived as a profit-making enterprise, determinations will need be made on how best to handle your submission.

We want to serve and assist you in promoting your God-honoring activities.
